“My fb account got hacked.” What to do next?
Facebook account hacking is become a national obsession it seems. Rising number of cases and the rate at which they happen. We do wonder why does someone hack someones account. Followed by what do they do next. Lets explore.
Why does Facebook account get hacked?
There is a seemingly long list of people interested in hacking anyones account. Professional hackers want your account so that they can send spam links to all persons in your friend list. Hackers do it for money considerations mostly. Although some hacking attempts might be for personal reasons too.
Someone can hire a professional hacker to cause trouble to you or your business. Maybe an ex who already had access to your social media accounts. Someone, somehow has got hold of your password or guessed the password itself. Someone close to you. If you are sharing your phone with a lot of people, someone among them is a potential password stealer.
Do not give your phone to anyone no matter what the emergency.
What to do next after your account is hacked?
First reset or change your password immediately. Unless emergency, try changing password or resetting the password on a laptop or computer rather than a mobile phone. If you still have access to your account, change the password after accessing Settings and Security & Login.
The next immediate step you should do is Logging out of all sessions. Just above the password change option is the list of devices which have Facebook logged in. Under the list is the button for logging out.
If the hacker has logged in from some other device, this will be the point where he or she has to leave.
One additional step that can be taken is remove all permissions to devices to login without a code.
Remove all the devices for the time being. You can add them later.
